Distinguished Communicator Nominations

Communicators rarely receive recognition for all that they do…help us acknowledge someone who has enabled their organization’s success through their efforts and who is a true credit to our profession! 

Please use the DCNominationForm-2012 or provide the requested information in your email!   Additional information on the nominee (résumé, list of awards, etc.) can be emailed with or attached to this form.  The selection committee may not know the nominee, so the more information you can include, the better. Keep in mind that the award recipient is not required to be an IABC member. 

The 2012 Distinguished Communicator will be announced and honored at the IABC/Columbus Bronze Quill Awards event May 24, 2012. Submit nominations to: Kate Gaylord, VP of Professional Development. E-mail: IABCvpProfDev@gmail.com

 Deadline for Nominations: February 3, 2012

 Selection criteria include all of the following:

  • Contribution to and leadership in the organizational communication profession in the greater Columbus area.
  • Career achievement.
  • Professional recognition for other activities, including business-related achievements and community involvement.

 For the nominee to be considered, please submit the following materials:

  • Completed nomination form.
  • A one-page narrative about the nominee, addressing each of the selection criteria above and any other relevant information.
  • Nominee’s current résumé or verify this information is available on Linked In.
  • Letters of endorsement for the nominee (optional).

Brian Berry, Manager, Human Resources, OCLC

Brian graduated from Spring Arbor University in Michigan with a degree in Human Resources and Organization Development. Previous career experiences include the Kellogg Company (Human Resources Business Partner), Limited Brands (Director of Staffing), Scotts Miracle-Gro (Director of Staffing and Shared Services), before his current role at the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) as Manager, Human Resources he held many roles in HR, but his first love is recruiting. “Just can’t beat matching great talent with the right opportunity and seeing people succeed in the role that you helped place them in.”

 Keith Sanders, Executive Vice President, Human Resources Director, Huntington Bank

Keith Sanders oversees benefits and compensation, training and development, recruitment, employee relations, and human resources information systems and practices for all colleagues in all regions for Huntington Bank. Prior to joining Huntington in 2010, Sanders was chief diversity and inclusion officer at PepsiAmericas, responsible for integrating diversity elements and inclusive practices into all PepsiAmericas’ business and human capital processes.  Sanders is a member of the Society of Human Resource Managers and the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources. He is on the board of directors of Harper College in Illinois and serves on the board for the King Arts Complex in Columbus and the Columbus Museum of Art. Sanders is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Truli Powell, Talent Acquisition Partner, inVentiv Health Communications

Since 2008, Truli Powell has served as a Talent Acquisition Partner at inVentiv Health Communications, a segment of inVentiv Health. inVentiv Health is a leading provider of clinical, commercial and consulting services to pharmaceutical, biotech and life sciences companies. Truli is responsible for the recruiting, sourcing, interviewing and client relationship management of inVentiv’s communication operations. She has accumulated more than 14 years of staffing experience, with the majority of her work experience being at Taylor Strategy Partners, where Truli served as a Senior Search Consultant. Truli has a Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.

 SPEAKER BIO: Kirsty Winner is Director of Corporate Communication at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In this role, she develops strategy and oversees communications to more than 7,500 employees; board members; and key government and community stakeholders. She leads communications for executive leadership and hospital priorities including a master facilities expansion, a new strategic plan and community wellness initiatives. Prior to joining Nationwide Children’s, Kirsty was a speechwriter and communications manager in the Ohio Governor’s Office.
