At this festive gala, IABC/Columbus will celebrate our area’s best communicators and Jeni Britton Bauer, founder/owner of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. We will honor Jeni as our 2013 Distinguished Communicator of the Year and present our 2013 Bronze Quill Awards. It’s a time for attendees to celebrate excellence in communications in central Ohio with peers, enjoy food and drinks, and socialize with other communications professionals.

Building a Strong Brand Through Building a Community
Our gala theme is Building a Strong Brand Through Building a Community. It honors Jeni’s contributions to the central Ohio community through her work as an advocate of Columbus entrepreneurship and in helping local business owners grow their businesses to a national level as she has done with her own. Jeni launched her career in Columbus’ North Market in 1996 and has built the business into a brand that is recognizable throughout the U.S. and stands for quality and ingenuity.

“Jeni is being honored because of her leadership in Columbus for more than 15 years and for being someone who, through her commitment to supporting the local community, has put central Ohio on the map,” said IABC/Columbus President Amy Gillespie. To learn more about Jeni’s career, read her bio.

In addition to accepting the Distinguished Communicator award, Jeni will be the keynote speaker. Other speakers at the event will include:

  • John Angelo, executive director of the Short North Alliance;
  • Dave Wible, former executive director of the North Market;
  • John Lowe, CEO of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

The gala will also feature drinks and dinner. There will also be a raffle with proceeds directed to a charity chosen by Jeni: Local Matters. Attendees may also choose to add a donation to Local Matters when purchasing their gala tickets.
